Under the leadership of Chief Joseph Jefferson, the City of Braswell Police Department is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all visitors and citizens. Our officers serve with professionalism and integrity.
The Police Department’s primary function is to deter crime, respond to crimes in-progress, serve as the primary law enforcement agency conducting criminal investigations within the city limits of Braswell and respond to emergencies and situations that threaten public safety. The City of Braswell Police employs Georgia P.O.S.T certified law enforcement officers and civilian personnel divided into three bureaus: Field Operations, Police Administration, and the Office of the Chief of Police.
Field Operations is in charge of responding to calls for help and delivering high-quality police services. All service calls and emergencies are handled by Field Operations first.
Operations Division employees conduct criminal investigations, enforce state and municipal laws, and collaborate with the community on a variety of public safety issues. Patrol officers are also capable of writing reports, giving testimony, and implementing crime prevention and reduction initiatives. Field Operations is the police department's most visible division, providing around the clock support to City of Braswell residents and visitors.
The Police Administration Bureau is in charge of enforcing departmental policies and procedures, as well as procuring and distributing supplies and equipment. Members of this sector are in charge of providing support to existing staff as well as assessing future prospects for employment.
